Trump still aims to end war in Ukraine quickly - Pentagon chief

President Donald Trump still intends to bring a swift end to Russia's war against Ukraine. The United States is observing the situation carefully, developing a plan, and setting priorities, stated US Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, during his press conference.
According to him, Trump still intends to end the war in Ukraine quickly.
He said that it is incorrect to say that the US is abandoning something or leaving.
"America is smart to observe, plan, prioritize and project power where we need to deter conflict," Hegseth added.
According to him, the US achieves peace through strength.
Trump's peace initiatives
Following his inauguration, US President Donald Trump called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to agree to a deal to end the war against Ukraine, threatening to intensify sanctions.
According to Western media reports, Trump reportedly tasked special envoy Keith Kellogg with ending the war within 100 days, although no official peace initiatives have been made public.
It was recently revealed that Kellogg will attend the Munich Security Conference, scheduled for February 14-16. He is expected to discuss the war in Ukraine but has stated that he will not present a peace plan.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that there is still no official peace plan from Trump to end the war in Ukraine.
However, media outlets reported that Kellogg is preparing to present a plan to Trump to end the war in Ukraine.
Today, Trump claimed that the US has made "tremendous progress" in negotiations with both Moscow and Kyiv over the past week, suggesting that a peace agreement could soon be reached.
