Trump’s delegation heads to Russia for ceasefire talks

A delegation from US President Donald Trump is heading to Russia to discuss a 30-day ceasefire with Ukraine, according to The Guardian, BBC News, and US Vice President JD Vance.
President Trump confirmed that he had received "positive messages" about the possibility of a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
"But a positive message means nothing. This is a very serious situation," Trump noted.
The US President emphasized that people are currently traveling to Russia, adding that now everything depends on Russia.
"We have people going to Russia right now... Hopefully, we can get a ceasefire from Russia. If we do, I think that would be 80% of the way to getting this horrible blood bath to end," Trump stated.
Meanwhile, Vance highlighted that, in his opinion, the US is in a very strong position after Ukraine agreed to the ceasefire.
"We're now going to see whether we can get the Russians to agree to a ceasefire too," he emphasized.
Ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined potential first steps toward peace, suggesting a ceasefire in the air and at sea.
On Tuesday, March 11, during a meeting in Saudi Arabia, the US proposed implementing a ceasefire across all territories. Ukraine agreed to the proposal.
Now, the response from Russia regarding the ceasefire is awaited. US Secretary of State had stated that the US would contact Russia about the ceasefire on March 12.
Zelenskyy explained earlier today why Ukraine agreed to the idea of a 30-day ceasefire.
