Zelenskyy: US proposed full ceasefire, Kyiv agreed, the ball is in Russia's court

The United States of America has proposed a 30-day ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. It is expected to cover not only missile and drone attacks but also hostilities along the entire front line, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during his evening address.
"Ukraine accepts this proposal; we see it as a positive step, and we are ready to take such a step," Zelenskyy stated.
According to him, the key task for the United States will be to persuade Russia to support this decision.
"We agree, and if the Russians agree, silence will take effect immediately," the president explained.
He also noted that Washington is ready to resume defensive aid to Ukraine, including the provision of intelligence data.
The president emphasized that if the 30-day ceasefire is observed, Kyiv and its partners will be able to prepare working documents that will ensure lasting peace and security.
"Ukraine is ready for peace. Russia must also show its readiness to either end the war or to continue it. The time for complete truth has come," he concluded.
Ceasefire
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that US President Donald Trump wants Ukraine to agree to a swift ceasefire with Russia. Such an agreement is a condition for signing a mineral resources deal.
At the time, Zelenskyy proposed establishing a ceasefire at sea and in the air. According to him, these could be the first steps toward ending the war.
Meanwhile, political analyst Volodymyr Fesenko told RBC-Ukraine that a ceasefire on land between Ukraine and Russia could face challenges. The reason is the absence of a stable front line.
Talks in Saudi Arabia
On Tuesday, March 11, a meeting between US and Ukrainian delegations took place in Saudi Arabia. The Ukrainian side was represented by Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. The US delegation included Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.
The meeting in Jeddah lasted over five hours.
Shortly before the talks, Andriy Yermak stated that Ukraine seeks peace and is ready to negotiate to end the war, approaching the discussions with US officials from a "very open" position.
Later, State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that the US delegation was quite optimistic about the meeting between Ukrainian and US representatives in Saudi Arabia. She also hinted that "fantastic news for humanity" is expected soon.
