President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine seeks to sit at the negotiating table as soon as possible to achieve a lasting peace, according to the head of the state on Twitter (X).

"Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts. We are ready to work fast to end the war," Zelenskyy wrote.

Zelenskyy outlined the initial possible steps toward resolving the conflict: the release of prisoners, an immediate ceasefire in the skies — including a ban on missiles, long-range drones, and attacks on civilian infrastructure — as well as a halt to hostilities at sea, provided that Russia does the same. According to him, Ukraine hopes to move quickly through all subsequent stages and reach a strong final agreement with the United States.

Zelenskyy also expressed gratitude to the US for its support, recalling the delivery of Javelins to Ukraine during Trump's presidency.

"Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive. Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it at any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step toward greater security and solid security guarantees, and I truly hope it will work effectively," the president stated.

Zelenskyy and Trump’s dispute

On February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the United States. During a conference, a disagreement arose between the Ukrainian leader, White House head Donald Trump, and Vice President D. Vance.

Additionally, Secretary of State Marco Rubio accused Zelenskyy of "undermining efforts" toward peace negotiations.

Ukraine and the US agreed on a mineral resources deal. Under this agreement, an investment fund was to be created, into which Ukraine’s revenue from resource sales would be directed.

The deal was supposed to be signed on Friday, February 28, at the White House during Zelenskyy’s visit. However, due to their dispute, this did not happen.

Later, Trump stated that he does not consider the mineral resources agreement with Ukraine to be "dead." He emphasized that such a deal remains beneficial for Washington.
