US President Donald Trump does not consider the agreement with Ukraine on minerals to be "dead." Such a deal is still beneficial for Washington, Trump stated this while speaking with journalists.

One of the correspondents asked Trump whether he considered the agreement with Ukraine on minerals to be "dead."

"No, I don’t think so. I think it’s a great deal for us," the US president responded.

Trump then once again criticized the 46th US president, Joe Biden, for allegedly allocating $350 billion in aid to Ukraine, claiming that with that amount, America could have "rebuilt our US Navy."

"And we’re getting this all back and a lot more than that. And what we need is very important for the business we’re talking about here, with chips, semiconductors, and everything else. We need rare earths," he added.

Trump also specified that to resume negotiations with Ukraine on such a deal, he wants President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to "be more appreciative."

"We’ve given them much more than Europe, and Europe should have given more than us because, as you know, that's right there. That’s the border. This country (Ukraine – ed.) really was like a fence on the border," the US president stated.

Agreement on minerals

Last week, it became known that Ukraine and the US had agreed on a minerals deal. Under the agreement, an investment fund was to be created, into which Ukraine's revenues from the sale of its resources would be directed.

The agreement was set to be signed on Friday, February 28, at the White House during the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. However, Trump and Zelenskyy had a dispute while speaking with journalists.

As a result, the Ukrainian president left the White House prematurely, and the signing of the agreement was canceled.
