US President Donald Trump stated that the allies will offer security guarantees to Ukraine. He promised "very good protection," Trump said during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House.

He noted that the parties have not yet discussed the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine. The US President also repeated that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants Ukraine not to be admitted to NATO.

Trump added that he does not know whether this will be a topic of discussion at the White House today.

"We will give them very good protection, very good security," Trump said.

The US President also added: "We have people waiting in another room, right now, they're all here from Europe. Biggest people in Europe. And they want to give protection. They feel very strongly about it and we'll help them out with that."

Security guarantees for Ukraine

European leaders created a Coalition of the Willing to provide security guarantees for Ukraine. Recently, the coalition stated that it is ready to deploy deterrence forces in Ukraine.

In addition, US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said that during the meeting between Putin and Trump in Alaska, an agreement was reached on security guarantees. According to him, the United States and its allies can provide Ukraine with "game-changing" guarantees based on the principle of NATO's Article Five.

US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker emphasized that such guarantees would be outside the framework of NATO.

During the meeting with Zelenskyy, the American President stated that the United States would be involved in the security guarantees, but it remains unknown whether US troops will be involved.
