"It all began with, if you want to know the truth, Greenland. We want Greenland. They don’t want to give it to us. And I said, 'Bye-bye,'" said US President Donald Trump.
He once again called NATO a "paper tiger."
"We didn’t need them, obviously, because they haven’t helped at all," the American leader added.
Sharp criticism of NATO
In recent times, US President Donald Trump has been regularly criticizing his NATO allies.
It all began when the American leader asked alliance countries to take part in a US–Israel operation against Iran and help unblock the Strait of Hormuz.
Allies refused to participate in the operation. Some of them stressed that it was "not their war."
In response, the American leader stated that NATO is a "one-way street," as the US is allegedly ready to help allies, while similar support is not provided in return.
He also recently said that he is seriously considering the possibility of the United States withdrawing from NATO.
