NATO is one-way street: Trump says US doesn't need alliance support

The US no longer needs the support of NATO, stated President Donald Trump on Truth Social, responding to the refusal of NATO countries to take part in the operation against Iran.
He said that most NATO allies had informed the United States that they did not want to participate in the military operation against Iran.
"I am not surprised by their action, however, because I always considered NATO, where we spend hundreds of billions of dollars per year protecting these same countries, to be a one-way street — we will protect them, but they will do nothing for us, in particular, in a time of need," Trump wrote.
The President once again claimed that Iran’s navy, air force, air defense systems, radars, and virtually all of its leadership had been destroyed and would never again be able to threaten the world.
"Because of the fact that we have had such military success, we no longer need, or desire, the NATO countries’ assistance — we never did! Likewise, Japan, Australia, or South Korea. In fact, speaking as President of the United States of America, by far the most powerful country anywhere in the world, we do not need the help of anyone!" Trump added.
Trump’s call
Earlier, US President Donald Trump called on all countries receiving oil through the Strait of Hormuz to direct their forces to the Middle East and join the operation against Iran.
Commenting on this call, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stressed that this war in the Middle East is not Germany’s war. He noted that additional military ships in the region are unlikely to help resolve the conflict through diplomatic means.
The United Kingdom has also refused to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz.
