Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 27: +1,400 troops and 1,762 drones

Russia's war in Ukraine continues to take a heavy toll on Moscow's forces. Ukraine's military has released its latest daily estimate of Russian manpower and equipment losses across the battlefield.
The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to August 27, 2026 are estimated to be:

Frontline situation
Over the past two days, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have advanced in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, according to ISW.
Moreover, Ukraine struck 16 Russian targets in 24 hours, hitting refineries, airfields, and a missile unit. The Defense Forces of Ukraine struck one of Russia's largest oil refineries — Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez in Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod region.
