Over the past two days, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have advanced in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, according to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Kharkiv region
North of Kupiansk, Ukrainian forces liberated the northern part of Zapadne and advanced southwest of Dvorichna.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have also made new gains in the direction of Borova. According to geolocation data, Ukrainian troops have likely regained control of Katerynivka and Nove, advanced east of Novomykhailivka, and continue to hold Novyi Myr.
On August 25, Ukrainian troops also launched a counterattack in the Ridkodub–Nove sector. According to reports, they are attacking Russian positions from the north in an effort to halt the further advance of Russian troops.
In addition, Ukraine continued to strike Russian military infrastructure. Specifically, on August 25, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the destruction of the Russian Peresvit-M electronic warfare system in occupied Luhansk.
Donetsk region
Ukrainian forces also continued to strike Russian targets in the occupied territory of the Donetsk region. In particular, a geolocated video captured an attack on a Russian freight train west of occupied Rybynske—approximately 77 km from the front line.
Sumy region
"Russian forces continued offensive operations in northern Sumy Oblast on August 24 and 25 but did not make confirmed advances, as Ukrainian forces recently advanced or maintained positions in the area," US analysts report.
On August 25, the Ukrainian Kursk Grouping of Forces stated that Novokostiantynivka (formerly Pershe Travnia), north of Sumy, remains under Ukrainian control. Thus, the Ukrainian side refuted the Russian Ministry of Defense's August 24 statement regarding the alleged capture of the settlement by Russian troops.
Incidentally, on August 25, it became known that new Russian offensive operations had failed on several fronts at once.
In addition, we reported on a new large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on Russia.
