Russian strike on Ukrainian Armed Forces training ground
On the evening of June 22, the Ukrainian Land Forces Command reported that the Russians had fired a missile at a temporary training ground of one of the Armed Forces' mechanized brigades. The Russian attack killed and injured soldiers, but, according to the command, the timely response to the threat avoided numerous losses.
Later, the Ukrainian Land Forces Command clarified that at the time of the strike, the personnel were dispersed and in shelters. However, some servicemen neglected to take precautions.
Russian strikes on training grounds and centers
In recent months, Russia has attacked Ukrainian training grounds or training centers a lot. For example, in May, Russia attacked a shooting range in the Sumy region, in early June, Russia attacked the 239th training range in the Dnipropetrovsk region, and a few days later, Russia attacked a training range in the Poltava region.
Amid the Russian attacks, the then-Commander of the Land Forces, Mykhailo Drapatyi, resigned and was transferred to command the Joint Forces. He was replaced by Brigadier General Hennadii Shapovalov.
