Russia has reduced the activity of its sabotage and reconnaissance groups (SRGs) along the borders of the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions. The Russians now have a different objective there, according to Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

"Overall, over a very long period, the activity of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups has decreased. Russia understands that it has a different objective—it plans to create a buffer zone, and the use of infantry groups is more suitable for this," Demchenko says.

At the same time, he emphasizes that the threat of sabotage and reconnaissance groups remains.

"We cannot say that this threat has completely disappeared, but fortunately, we are not currently seeing the same level of activity as before," notes the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine spokesperson.

Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined 5 scenarios for Russia regarding the expansion of the war in northern Ukraine. Among these scenarios is the involvement of Belarus in the war.

At the same time, Belarus has conducted joint nuclear exercises with Russia, and accusations against Ukraine regularly emerge from Minsk. Recently, the Belarusian regime claimed there were alleged drone attacks from Ukrainian territory.

According to analysts at the Institute for the Study of War, there are currently no signs of a ground invasion from Belarus.

However, Russia could use Belarusian territory to launch strikes against western regions of Ukraine.

Earlier, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, issued a stern warning to self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko in response to Minsk’s latest accusations regarding alleged flights by Ukrainian drones.

He called on Lukashenko not to get in Ukraine’s way and warned that the Ukrainian military already has the first 500 targets on Belarusian territory on the drawing board.

For his part, Lukashenko issued threats against Ukraine. He stated that he was prepared to launch a retaliatory strike against a very serious target.
