This morning, November 29, three Russian warships were spotted in the Black Sea. All of them are carriers of the Kalibr-type cruise missiles, a class of sea-launched missiles, the Ukrainian Navy reports.

According to the military department, these missile carriers in the Black Sea can launch up to 16 Kalibr missiles in a single salvo if an attack occurs.

Meanwhile, according to reports at 6:00 AM (Kyiv time), no Russian ships were present in the Sea of Azov.

The Ukrainian Navy also noted that no Russian ships were observed in the Mediterranean Sea.

The military also reported that over the past 24 hours, in the interests of Russia, the following vessels passed through the Kerch Strait:

  • to the Black Sea: 6 ships, 4 of which continued toward the Bosporus Strait;
  • to the Sea of Azov: 9 ships, none of which were coming from the Bosporus Strait.

Russian use of Kalibr during strikes against Ukraine

During yesterday's massive combined attack on November 28, Russian forces launched a total of 188 missiles of various types and drones against Ukraine. Among the weapons used were 28 Kalibr cruise missiles, which were fired from the Black Sea.

The Russian military's Kalibr missiles, used in the attack, were equipped with cluster munitions. Military expert and Major of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksii Hetman commented to RBC-Ukraine that these missiles pose a dual threat.

During another massive Russian combined strike on November 17, when 90 drones and 120 missiles were launched, Kalibr missiles were again among the weapons used.

Furthermore, in mid-November, Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk mentioned that the effectiveness of the Kalibr missiles, used by Russia to attack Ukraine, has significantly decreased.
