Effectiveness of Russian Kalibr missiles against Ukraine significantly reduced – Ukrainian Navy
Russian cruise missiles Kalibr, actively used by the Russian army since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, are demonstrating decreasing effectiveness, stated Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk.
"It is a dangerous weapon, but no longer as effective. Its efficiency has significantly decreased. However, we shouldn’t completely rule it out: Russia has eight launch platforms in the Black Sea for Kalibrs. When they are not attacking, they are stockpiling missiles. But using this weapon alone does not yield the desired results, and Russia understands this," he said.
According to him, during recent massive attacks, the Ukrainian Air Force destroyed all the Kalibr missiles launched. This indicates the effectiveness of Ukraine's air defense.
"It should not be excluded that the missiles may be used in combined attacks or during training operations by Russian sailors. However, even in such scenarios, the effectiveness of the Kalibrs remains questionable," he added.
Despite this, due to the large number of such weapons in the Black Sea, Ukraine continues to remain in a constant state of readiness for any scenario.
Earlier, the Navy reported that Russia uses the Caspian Sea for attacks on Ukraine with strategic aviation. There are also Kalibr missile carriers in this sea, but the enemy does not use them to attack Ukraine.
On the night of November 6, the city of Kaspiysk in Dagestan was attacked by strike drones.
The strikes hit the port infrastructure, where the Caspian Flotilla of the Russian Navy is based. A fire broke out at the impact sites, one ship was damaged, and others hastily left the harbor.
