President of Finland believes that China forces Putin to stop war against Ukraine
President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, during a conversation with journalists at the Peace Summit in Switzerland, stated that China can play a key role in establishing peace in Ukraine, reports yle.
"I strongly urge China, as it could influence Putin, to put an end to this war," Stubb said.
The President of Finland noted that the Global South can play an important role in achieving peace in addition to China.
He pointed out that many representatives from countries in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and especially the Middle East are participating in the summit.
"This gives hope that we will be able to embark on the path to peace, and I believe it is important for this to happen on Ukraine's terms," Stubb said.
The Finnish leader also addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling on him to stop the war. At the same time, Stubb rejected Putin's peace initiative.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan suggested that China is not participating in the peace summit in Switzerland because the leadership of the PRC asked Putin for this.
