This week, Russia launched over 1,070 guided aerial bombs, nearly a thousand strike drones, and six missiles against Ukraine, according to the Telegram channel of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy emphasized that it is crucial for Ukraine to maintain continued support from partners, including consistent defense assistance and strengthened air defense.
"Almost every day, lives in Ukraine are under threat due to Russian attacks, strikes with various types of weapons against our people. And this week alone, Russia has launched over 1,070 guided aerial bombs, nearly a thousand strike drones, and six missiles against Ukraine," the president stressed.
According to him, all agreements reached with partners need to be activated as fully as possible.
"Every missile delivered to air defense systems that are currently in storage with our partners can genuinely save lives. Stability and predictability of assistance for Ukraine is what can realistically push Moscow toward diplomacy," Zelenskyy said.
He noted that Ukraine is counting on continued defense support and backing for the prepared documents on security guarantees from the US, Europe, and partners in the "coalition of the resolute."
Shelling of Ukraine
As a reminder, on the night of January 4, Russian forces carried out another strike on Ukrainian territory using attack drones. The occupiers launched 52 drones, most of which were shot down by air defense forces.
On the previous night, January 3, Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, sending 95 strike drones from different directions. Air defense forces destroyed 80 drones, while 15 drones hit eight locations, and debris fell in two additional areas.
One of the main targets was the Mykolaiv region, where the enemy carried out massive attacks on critical infrastructure using Shahed-type drones.
As a result of the shelling, some settlements in the Mykolaiv district were left without electricity. Emergency crews have been working to restore power since the night.
In addition, on January 2, Russian forces carried out a missile strike on central Kharkiv using two Iskander ballistic missiles. A five-story building and part of the entrance of a four-story building were damaged, resulting in fatalities and more than 30 injured.
