Patriot battery, HIMARS ammo and NASAMS: What's included in new US aid package

The United States of America announced a new package of military aid for Ukraine, which includes the Patriot air defense system and ammunition, according to the White House press release.

It is said that the estimated cost of the aid package is $225 million. This package will provide Ukraine with additional capabilities to meet its needs, including air defense systems and interceptors, ammunition for missile systems and artillery, as well as anti-tank weapons.

What is included:

  • One Patriot battery;
  • Munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS);
  • Stinger anti-aircraft missiles;
  • Ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS);
  • 155mm and 105mm artillery rounds;
  • Tube-launched, optically-tracked, wire-guided (TOW) equipment and missiles;
  • Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems;
  • Small arms ammunition;
  • Demolition munitions; and
  • Spare parts, maintenance, and other ancillary equipment.

Norway to allocate over $92 million to bolster Ukraine's air defense

Ukraine and Romania sign agreement on security guarantees

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his Romanian counterpart Klaus Iohannis have signed a cooperation agreement on security between the two countries, citing the Office of the President.

According to the agreement, Romania will:

  • Provide Ukraine with Patriot systems;
  • Support Kyiv with the same intensity as during 2022-2024;
  • Facilitate the rapid transit of all necessary equipment through its territory to Ukraine.
