Poland and its NATO allies must respond to the incident involving the explosion of a Russian drone on Polish territory, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to him, NATO is coordinating its response very closely with its Polish counterparts regarding the explosion of a Russian drone in Poland.

"We are closely coordinating this with our Polish colleagues. I'm not gonna say too much about it, but we are in very close contact with Poland on this. They have also rightly strongly reacted to this latest incident. So, you can be assured that we are on top of this," the NATO secretary general said.

Explosion of a Russian drone in Poland

On the night of August 20, an explosion occurred in the Polish village of Osiny in the Lublin province. An unidentified object fell on a cornfield and then exploded.

The police found burnt metal and plastic debris, but there was no typical crater from the explosion. There were no casualties.

Poland is inclined to believe that a Russian version of the Shahed drone most likely exploded on its territory.

Later, the Polish Ministry of Defense finally confirmed the explosion of a Russian drone near Lublin.

Yesterday, August 22, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a note of protest to Russia over the explosion of a Russian drone in the Lublin province.
