The object that fell near Lublin, Poland, on the night of August 20 was a Russian drone. This is a deliberate provocation by Russia, carried out against the background of international discussions about peace, said Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, PAP reports.

"We are dealing with a provocation of Russia, with a Russian drone precisely at a time when peace talks are taking place, when there is hope that this war (in Ukraine – ed.) has a chance to end. Russia is provoking again," said Kosiniak-Kamysz.

He reported that he held a briefing with key commanders.

"We spoke with all the services. Such briefings take place in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, in the Ministry of Defense. There is cooperation between all state services. All our allies have also been informed," the minister said.

He added that Polish Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski "will take appropriate diplomatic steps."

Night explosion in Poland

On the night of August 20 in the Polish village of Osiny in Lublin Voivodeship an explosion occurred. As reported, an unidentified object fell into a cornfield and then exploded.

The police found charred metal and plastic fragments, but there was no typical crater from the explosion. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Earlier, Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz named three possible versions of the explosion. According to him, possible sabotage is not excluded.

Later, Poland leaned towards the version that a Russian version of a Shahed drone most likely exploded on the country's territory. In connection with this, Warsaw is preparing a protest to Russia.
