On Tuesday, May 27, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered a note of protest to a representative of the Russian embassy in connection with the ongoing war crimes committed by the Russian army and the killing of peaceful Ukrainian civilians, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry press service reports.

"Lithuania strongly condemns the killings of unarmed Ukrainian servicemen and the intensified missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities. These attacks result in the destruction or serious injury of innocent civilians, including children, as well as damage to civilian infrastructure," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement reads.

The Ministry notes that these actions constitute war crimes with no statute of limitations, and "all those responsible for these crimes will sooner or later be held accountable for their actions."

"Lithuania also notes that by avoiding a commitment to a ceasefire of at least 30 days, Russia demonstrates an aggressive intent to continue the war it started and essentially diverts the international community's efforts from stopping the killing of Ukrainian civilians. Lithuania continues to do everything possible to support Ukraine's efforts to defend itself against the aggressors," the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

Russia's massive attacks on Ukraine

Recall that Russia's massive attacks on Ukraine lasted for three consecutive nights. The enemy launched a record number of drones and missiles, striking targets from north to south.

Specifically, on the night of May 24, Russia carried out a combined strike on Kyiv using both ballistic missiles and drones. That night, 14 ballistic missiles Iskander-M/KN-23 and 250 attack drones were launched across Ukraine. Air defenses destroyed six missiles and neutralized 245 drones.

On the night of May 25, Russian forces attacked 13 regions of Ukraine. They used dozens of ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as about 300 drones.

On the night of May 26, Russia launched a record number of attack drones and cruise missiles over Ukrainian territory.

And on the night of May 27, the enemy launched 60 drones from five directions.
