On the night of May 24, Russia launched a massive strike on Ukraine, simultaneously using ballistic missiles and attack drones, according to the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Telegram.

According to the Air Forces, the enemy attacked from multiple directions, with Kyiv once again being the primary target.

Starting at 8:30 p.m. on May 23, the enemy fired 14 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles at Ukraine from the areas of Taganrog, Yeysk, Bryansk, and temporarily occupied Crimea.

Additionally, throughout the night, Russia launched 250 attack drones of the Shahed type and various types of drone simulators from the north, east, and south directions.

The launch locations included Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo, and occupied Crimea.

All components of Ukraine’s air defense were involved in repelling the attack: fighter aviation, surface-to-air missile systems, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups.

As of 8:30 a.m., the Armed Forces of Ukraine had shot down six ballistic missiles (all over Kyiv) and neutralized 245 drones.

Of these, 128 were destroyed by firepower, while 117 were suppressed by electronic warfare systems without causing damage.

The attack affected Kyiv, as well as the Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Consequences of the Russian attack

Recall that on the evening of May 23, a drone attack in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district caused damage to four cars from falling drone debris, with no casualties reported.

During the night missile and kamikaze drone strikes, explosions were again heard in Kyiv, and air defense was actively engaged. The city also reported falling debris from enemy air targets in several districts, with eight people injured.

Additionally, in the Obolonskyi district, debris fell on a shopping center and a residential building, causing a fire.
