Greece will not supply S-300 missiles to Ukraine
Greece will not supply S-300 missiles to Ukraine. Information about the delivery that previously appeared on the network is untrue, according to the spokesperson of the Greek government, Pavlos Marinakis.
"There must be a limit to fake news, especially when it touches on the country's interests and international image. This does not exist, and I categorically deny it. There was not even an intention that Greece would risk the country's defense capabilities," he said.
Greece's assistance to Ukraine
Last summer, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Greece. He announced that Athens would train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets during his visit. The head of state also stated that Ukraine relies on Greece's air defense in the Black Sea.
Later, it was reported that Greece was halting the funding of programs to support and service Soviet-era anti-aircraft missile systems, as they might be transferred to Ukraine.
Previously, the United States discussed with Greece the possibility of selling 75,000 artillery shells from the reserves of the Greek Armed Forces. The negotiations are part of Washington's efforts to replenish Ukraine's ammunition supplies.
