The summer summit will take place in Canmore, Alberta. Canada is chairing the G7 for the seventh time.
Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been invited to the G7 meeting. The group includes the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States.
Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said Kyiv hopes Zelenskyy will meet with US President Donald Trump on the summit sidelines. The Ukrainian delegation prepared for this during a visit to Washington in early June.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy recently said joint sanctions need to be developed at the G7 level if Russia turns peace talks into empty rhetoric.
