Canada's new PM invites Zelenskyy to G7 summit

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has invited Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the G7 summit. The summit will take place in June 2025 in the Canadian province of Alberta, The Times reports.
According to Carney, he extended the G7 summit invitation to Zelenskyy during a phone call the day before.
A Canadian government spokesperson said that President Zelenskyy had been invited to the G7 meeting in Alberta in June.
Canada, which holds the G7 presidency this year, will host the summit in Kananaskis, in the western province of Alberta, from June 15 to 17.

G7
The G7 includes the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and the United States. From March 12 to 14, the G7 foreign ministers gathered in the Canadian city of La Malbaie. Canada assumed the G7 presidency on January 1, 2025.
In June 2025, the G7 leaders' summit will take place in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada. This event, marking the 50th anniversary of the first G7 summit, will be a key occasion for discussing global challenges and seeking common solutions.
During the summit, G7 leaders are expected to discuss international security and stability, particularly the situation in Ukraine and measures to deter Russia's aggressive actions.
