Fire at ski resort in Türkiye: Death toll rises to 66
A severe fire broke out at a hotel in the Turkish ski resort of Kartalkaya. According to the latest reports, 66 people are reported to have died.
"We declare that we have lost 66 lives so far. We express our condolences to the families of our citizens who have died. I wish our citizens who are receiving treatment a speedy recovery," Turkish Minister of the Interior, Ali Yerlikaya said.
Zelenskyy outlines Ukraine's strategy on the path to peace
"The strategy is that we must approach any diplomacy that will lead, I am confident, to the end of the war. The question is, what will it look like?" stated Zelenskyy.
He clarified that if the diplomacy is strong, then as a result of negotiations, Ukraine will receive solid security guarantees that will prevent a repeat attack by Russian President Vladimir Putin. A strong diplomacy will also lead to a sustainable, just, and strong peace for Ukraine and Europe.
Trump suspends US financial aid to other countries
US President Donald Trump has signed an order suspending all foreign aid programs for 90 days. During this time, a review will be conducted to determine whether these programs meet the country's political goals.
It is not entirely clear how much aid will be terminated by this order, as Congress has already approved funding for many programs, which should be allocated if funds are not lost.
Trump claims Zelenskyy is open to deal as Russia faces major challenges
During his time in the Oval Office, Trump signed a series of executive orders and answered journalists' questions. Among other topics, he was asked about the war in Ukraine.
In response, Trump said that "Zelenskyy wants to reach an agreement." The US President expressed hope that Putin would also be ready for negotiations, noting that "he is destroying Russia by not making a deal."
"I think Russia has big problems. Just look at inflation in Russia... I would hope he wants to make a deal," Trump added.
