New US Secretary of State comments on ending war in Ukraine
Negotiations aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine will not take place publicly, and the United States must play its role, stated the new US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
He noted that ending Russia's war against Ukraine would become an official policy of Donald Trump’s administration.
"It's an official policy of the US that we want it (the war - ed.) to end. This conflict has been incredibly destructive. Ukraine is paying the biggest price of all to its energy infrastructure, to its people, and lives they have lost... We are going to engage in making it end in a way that is sustainable. We want to bring stability," Rubio said.
Rubio also pledged to implement Trump’s foreign policy focused on advancing the national interests of this country. Another goal of this policy will be promoting peace, peace through strength without abandoning the values of the USA.
Trump’s inauguration
On January 20, Donald Trump officially became President of the United States. Following his inauguration, Trump promised to declare an emergency at the US-Mexico border, deport criminals from the US, and announce an energy emergency.
Interestingly, during his inaugural address, Trump made no mention of plans to end the war between Ukraine and Russia, despite assurances during his campaign that he could find a resolution within 24 hours.
