After his inauguration on January 20, 2025, Donald Trump officially became the President of the United States. During the ceremony, he promised that America would enter a golden age, and outlined the main priorities of his administration, but did not mention his campaign promise to help bring a swift end to the war in Ukraine.

RBC-Ukraine highlights Trump's key statements.

On the golden age of America

Trump began his inaugural speech by declaring the start of America's golden age.

"Our top priority will be to create a nation that is proud, prosperous, and free. During every single day of the Trump administration, I will put America first," Trump stated.

According to him, the main priority will be to build a proud, prosperous, and free country. "America will soon be greater, stronger, and far more exceptional than ever before," he noted.

On the state of emergency at the US-Mexico border

He stated that his goal is to ensure the safety of law-abiding Americans, stop the influx of illegal immigrants from various psychiatric hospitals and prisons around the world, and protect the borders. He also pledged to return millions of criminals to the countries from which they came.

"We will reinstate my Remain in Mexico policy. I will send troops to the southern border to repel the disastrous invasion of our country. Under the orders I will sign today, we will also be designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. And by invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, I will direct our government to use all forces to eliminate the presence of all foreign gangs," he emphasized.

On the state of emergency in energy

The President promised to protect Americans at an unprecedented level. He will allocate resources to overcome record inflation and quickly reduce prices in the United States.

"The inflation crisis was caused by massive overspending and escalating energy prices. That is why today I will also declare a national energy emergency. We will drill, baby, drill," he said.

He stated that he would lower fuel prices, fill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and that the US would begin exporting energy resources worldwide. Additionally, he pledged to end the Green New Deal and revoke the electric vehicle mandate to save the automotive industry.

"In other words, you will be able to buy the car of your choice. We will build automobiles in America again at a rate nobody could have dreamt," Trump stated.

On tariffs on foreign goods

With the arrival of the Trump administration, the US trade system will undergo a restructuring.

"Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich foreign countries, we will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens," he stated.

To facilitate this, an External Revenue Service will be established to collect all tariffs and revenues.

On American society and the policy of two genders

Trump promised that every day his administration of American patriots would meet any crisis with strength and honor to restore prosperity to citizens of all races.

"The nation is rapidly unifying behind our agenda with dramatic increases in support from virtually every element of our society - young and old, men and women, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, urban, suburban, rural. And very importantly, we had a powerful win in all seven swing states. I want to thank the Black and Hispanic communities. I've heard your voices," he said.

Today, Trump will sign an executive order against censorship and restrictions on freedom of speech. According to him, the government will not be used to persecute political opponents, and law and order will return to American cities.

"I will end the government policy to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life. We will forge a society that is colorblind and merit-based. As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders - male and female," he added.

On the US Armed Forces and the peacekeeper's legacy

This week, all service members dismissed for refusing COVID-19 vaccination will be reinstated with full benefits. According to Trump, the US military must focus solely on one mission: defeating America’s enemies.

"Like in 2017, we will build the strongest military the world has ever seen. We will measure our success not only by the battles we win but by the wars that we end and the wars we never get into," Trump stated.

He also hinted that he wants to go down in history as a “peacemaker and a unifier.”

"I'm pleased to say that as of yesterday the hostages in the Middle East are coming back home to their families. America will reclaim its rightful place as the greatest, most powerful, and most respected nation on Earth," Trump added.

He stated that America's strength will end all wars and bring a spirit of unity to the world. However, he made no mention of Ukraine, despite previous promises to seek a swift resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war.

On the Gulf of Mexico, the Panama Canal, and space exploration

Trump pledged to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America and restore the name of Alaska's highest peak to honor President McKinley (currently called Denali).

He also criticized the transfer of the Panama Canal to Panama, calling it a foolish decision after the US invested heavily in its construction and sacrificed 38,000 lives.

"Panama's promise has been broken. American ships have been severely overcharged and not treated fairly. And above all China is operating the Panama Canal. We didn't give it to China, we gave it to Panama, and we're taking it back," Trump said.

In a statement that stood out among standard inauguration promises, Trump declared that the US would "pursue our manifest destiny into the stars, launching American astronauts to plant the stars and stripes on the planet Mars".

Before the inauguration, it became known that the theme of Trump's speech would be restoring trust in America and a common sense revolution.

Today’s inauguration was the coldest in nearly 40 years, as Arctic air masses swept across North America, bringing freezing temperatures to the US capital. Due to the extreme cold, Trump delivered his inaugural address indoors in the Capitol Rotunda instead of outside.
