Trump's inauguration become the coldest in almost 40 years
Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20, 2025, will be the coldest in almost 40 years. Frosts down to -4 are expected in Washington today, BBC and CNN report.
According to the weather forecast, after a few mild days at the end of last week, the cold Arctic wind is moving south and will affect all of North America. The so-called Arctic blast will likely last several days and become a record.
The Arctic Blast refers to icy air masses that cross the North Pole and move south and east of the United States.
Today, heavy snow and freezing rain are expected in Texas and other southern states. Over the next few days, this weather will move eastward. The temperature is forecast to be -4 in Washington, D.C., but if you add cold winds gusting up to 50 km/h, it will feel closer to -13.
Thus, Donald Trump's inauguration will be the coldest since 1985 (Ronald Reagan's second inauguration), when the temperature dropped to -14.

In connection with the dangerous conditions, Trump said earlier that he does not ”want to see people hurt, or injured, in any way.”
“Therefore, I have ordered the Inauguration Address, in addition to prayers and other speeches, to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda, as was used by Ronald Reagan in 1985, also because of very cold weather,” he wrote on Truth Social on Friday.
Concerns about the weather on Inauguration Day have a historical context. The 9th President, Henry Harrison, is believed to have caught a cold during the 1841 ceremony when he delivered his two-hour inaugural address. He later contracted pneumonia and died a month after the inauguration.
How Trump's inauguration will take place
Today's inauguration will take place in the Capitol Rotunda. The Capitol One Arena will be open for those who want to watch the ceremony live. Trump said he would join the people in Capitol One after the swearing-in.
The ceremony starts at 19:00 Kyiv time. The Inauguration Day will include a military parade and other events.
Earlier, it was reported that Trump would sign almost 100 decrees immediately after taking the oath of office. He plans to reverse a number of decisions of his predecessor, Joe Biden.
