Croatia rules out sending troops to Ukraine

Croatia does not plan to send its military to Ukraine as part of providing Kyiv with security guarantees. Instead, the country will continue to assist Ukraine with everything it has done in the past — weapons, financing, and other support, Croatian Defense Minister Ivan Anušić said at a press conference in Zagreb with Slovenian Defense Minister Borut Sajović, HRT reported.
Anušić stated that Croatia does not plan to send troops to Ukraine. The Croatian army is not ready for this, and the government does not want to take such steps.
"In recent days, events have been developing very quickly, and in some decisions made by certain NATO member countries and the Coalition of the Willing, the possibility of sending these soldiers is mentioned. Croatia is not taking part in this," the minister said.
Anušić was quick to add that Croatia will continue supporting Ukraine as it has done so far.
"In everything in which we have helped so far — political support, assistance with equipment, weapons, and financial aid, everything that is needed," he assured.
On September 5, Croatia announced that it would provide assistance to Ukraine within the framework of the drone coalition. The country will join this initiative and make a significant contribution to it.
Deployment of foreign troops to Ukraine
On September 4, following the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, French President Emmanuel Macron stated that 26 countries agreed to deploy troops to Ukraine in order to ensure support for Ukrainian territory the day after a ceasefire or the establishment of peace.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that there is already a preliminary understanding regarding the number of soldiers, and their presence will cover air, sea, and land.
