Ukraine and the USA have modernized Buk systems for American missiles, says the speaker of the Air Force of Ukraine Yurii Ihnat.

In an interview, Ihnat says that the modified Buk systems were tested in the USA and can strengthen the air defense of Ukraine.

"There is an announcement from our Western partners (we have already confirmed it) that we have good results of the combat use of Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems, which have been converted to American missiles, at a training ground in the United States. They can strengthen our air defense," says Ihnat in an interview.

According to him, only Russia produces missiles for the Buk-M1 and S-300 complexes.

"It is necessary to look for steps, and ways, such as the crossing of the Soviet and the American. They protect, even in a small radius," says the representative of the Air Force of Ukraine.

Ihnat notes that Ukraine needs both modernized Buk systems adapted to American missiles, and modernized HAWK systems, which have already shown their effectiveness and results.

Modernized air defense in Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the country may ask its allies to temporarily provide air defense systems to protect the country from Russian air attacks in the winter.

According to Ihnat, there were cases when Ukraine leased air defense systems. But this is a common practice in the world.

Earlier, we wrote that Ukraine, together with the United States, modernized Soviet air defense launchers so that they could launch Western missiles.
