US President Joe Biden is unlikely to allow Poland and Romania to shoot down Russian missiles and drones over Ukraine. Volodymyr Fesenko, head of the Center for Applied Political Studies "Penta", believes this is due to Biden's fear of escalation.

"I doubt Biden will make this decision. Here’s why: the Biden administration has always supported Ukraine, maybe not fully, but they have supported it, yet at the same time, there has been a postulate to avoid the risks of war with Russia," Fesenko believes.

He recalled that, in the American leader's view, such destruction of missiles and drones would be "interference in the war." Moscow has also signaled this.

According to Fesenko, Russian missiles and drones can be shot down over Poland and Romania, which would also put pressure on the aggressor.

Interception of Russian missiles

Ukraine has repeatedly asked Poland and Romania for help in destroying Russian missiles and drones heading their way. However, neither Warsaw nor Bucharest has dared to take such a step.

In the opinion of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, it would be "easier for the countries to make such a decision" if it were supported by the US.

On October 30, it became known that Congress had appealed to Biden with a request to allow Poland to destroy hostile targets over Ukraine.
