After Ukraine and Georgia join NATO, the Black Sea should become a sea of the North Atlantic Alliance, like the Baltic Sea, according to Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba during the Second Black Sea Security Conference of the International Crimean Platform.

"It is important to have a vision and strategy, to persevere in joint actions to achieve common goals. The Black Sea should become a sea of NATO, peace, and stability. This is exactly what the Baltic Sea became when Finland and Sweden joined the Alliance. The security of the entire region has been strengthened," Kuleba says.

The Minister notes that after Ukraine and Georgia joined NATO, the Black Sea will follow the example of the Baltic Sea. He calls this a strategic goal that the Alliance and the Euro-Atlantic community should strive for.

Russian blockade and destruction of Russian ships

Russian troops use the Black and Azov Seas for their military purposes. The Azov Sea is currently under full enemy control. After the liberation of Zmiinyi Island, the Russian dominance in the Black Sea was reduced.

In recent months, the Ukrainian military has also destroyed more than one Russian ship. For example, recently, a special unit of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), Group 13, attacked the Black Sea Fleet patrol ship Sergei Kotov near the Kerch Strait. In particular, during the attack, on February 14, off the coast of the temporarily occupied Crimea, a large Russian landing ship Tsezar Kunikov was destroyed.

A spokesperson for the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Dmytro Pletenchuk, notes that Ukraine seized the initiative over the situation in the Black Sea.
