Ukraine is trying to end the war with dignity, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron.
He noted that these are special days, when the situation can change literally every day.
"Yesterday, there were talks in the United States. Tomorrow, a representative of the US President will be in Russia. We are working hard to end this war, and it must be ended with dignity," Zelenskyy emphasized.
US-Ukraine negotiations
On November 29, a Ukrainian delegation traveled to the United States for further discussions on a peace plan. The talks started the next day, November 30.
The US seeks to resolve disputes with Ukraine over two key points in the peace plan - territorial issues and security guarantees.
After the meeting, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said progress had been made, noting that the negotiations are complex.
Rustem Umerov, Secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council and head of the Ukrainian delegation, briefed Zelenskyy on the results. He said there has been significant progress toward achieving a dignified peace and that Ukraine's and the US's positions have grown closer.
Meanwhile, media reports indicate that Trump's Special Envoy, Steve Witkoff, will travel to Moscow today to continue negotiations with the Russian side.
On December 1, Witkoff met with Umerov to discuss the results of yesterday's talks with Zelenskyy.
French President Emmanuel Macron stressed that only Ukraine can discuss territorial issues in peace negotiations, as these are its lands.
