Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a conversation with Finnish President Alexander Stubb. They discussed coordinating peace efforts with the United States.

"It is important that America has the determination and the ability to end the war, and we welcome President Trump's desire to stop the killings. To respond to Russia's intention to prolong the war and seize territorial spoils, we must act wisely and in coordination," Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian president also thanked his Finnish counterpart for support. He noted that Finland, like Ukraine, shares one of the longest borders with Russia in Europe. Both countries, therefore, fully understand the danger posed by such a neighbor.

"We agreed to continue working together for our common security," Zelenskyy added.

It is worth noting that Finnish President Alexander Stubb and US President Donald Trump have a very good relationship. They play golf together and discuss important matters.

Stubb has repeatedly advocated for Ukrainian interests before Trump. Specifically, he had to explain to the American president why Russia is no longer a great power, despite the efforts of Russian President Vladimir Putin. A few days ago, Stubb discussed the situation in Ukraine with Trump.

Will Trump meet Putin?

On August 8, Trump announced the date and location for his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. It will take place on August 15 in Alaska. According to CBS News, there is a possibility that Zelenskyy will join the Trump-Putin summit next week.

At the same time, Ukraine will not give up its territory to Russian forces. However, Trump mentioned the possibility of a territory swap between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the return of some Ukrainian lands.
