Zelenskyy to meet European and NATO leaders in Brussels, Reuters reports
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may visit Brussels next Wednesday. There he will meet with the leaders of a number of European and NATO countries, Reuters reports.
According to Reuters, Zelenskyy will attend a meeting with the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, NATO, and the EU in Brussels. During the meeting, they plan to discuss support for Ukraine in the war with Russia.
As the media outlet reports, the meeting is taking place amid concerns that European countries may face a shift in the US approach to the war.
"It won't be a meeting that has concrete decisions, but more political to discuss the coming weeks and months," the source said.
The meeting was organized by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. It will take place when a number of leaders are due to meet at the EU-Western Balkans summit in Brussels.
New contact group
Recently, Friedrich Merz, a candidate for German Chancellor, proposed creating a contact group involving Poland, France, Britain, and Germany to address a unified position on ending the war in Ukraine.
President Zelenskyy responded that Ukraine had already formed such a group, with its first meeting planned for December.
Later, Ukraine’s Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Ihor Zhovkva, revealed that the initial meeting would also address security guarantees for Ukraine until NATO membership is achieved
