Zelenskyy sets goal: Maximize drone production to protect Ukrainian cities Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine (Vitalii Nosach, RBC-Ukraine)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a special technology-focused meeting of the Staff. During the session, officials discussed drone production, particularly for defending cities against Russian attacks, the president said in his evening address.

According to Zelenskyy, the meeting included detailed reports on drones, focusing on financing, production, and necessary regulatory simplifications.

The key goal is to produce as many drones as possible — specifically the types needed on the front line and for defending cities, while also taking into account the enemy's evolving technologies, the president said.

He added that the meeting also featured reports from the military command, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Strategic Industries, and intelligence services of Ukraine. In particular, intelligence briefed on Russia's technological plans.

"We are scaling up Ukraine's potential, especially in the area of interceptors," Zelenskyy said. He added that he issued several special instructions, though he did not share details. However, the outcome should be clear — increased production in Ukraine and for Ukraine.

The president emphasized that the scale of domestic production and the pace of drone development must match the demands of wartime conditions.

Interceptor drones

Russia has been launching large numbers of attack drones against Ukraine on a near-daily basis for an extended period. In response, Ukrainian manufacturers are developing interceptor drones designed to neutralize incoming threats.

Recently, it was revealed that Ukrainian specialists have created an interceptor drone capable of reaching altitudes of up to 11 kilometers.

Additionally, Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov noted that the country already possesses classified anti-Shahed technologies, though he did not disclose specific details.
