The energy ceasefire began overnight on January 30, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"The American side spoke about refraining from strikes on energy infrastructure for a week, and the countdown began overnight," the President said.
Zelenskyy noted that how the ceasefire proceeds depends on Ukraine’s partners, particularly the United States.
"Ukraine is ready to reciprocally refrain from strikes, and today we did not hit Russian energy targets," the Ukrainian leader emphasized.

Yesterday, information circulated on social media suggesting that Russia had halted attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. According to reports, Russian forces were forbidden from striking facilities in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as in other parts of Ukraine.
There was also information that the ban on attacks against energy facilities could be reciprocal and would last until February 3. This was reportedly linked to a new round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia scheduled for February 1.
Later, US President Donald Trump said he personally asked Russian leader Vladimir Putin to temporarily suspend attacks on Ukrainian cities during the period of severe cold. According to Trump, the Kremlin leader agreed to the proposal.
The agreement on the energy ceasefire was confirmed by Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov, although he stressed it would last only until February 1.
Zelenskyy confirmed the energy ceasefire with Russia, noting that the matter was discussed in Abu Dhabi and expressing hope that the agreements would be implemented.
