Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy has officially received a draft plan from the United States, which, according to the American side, could help advance diplomatic efforts, according to the Office of the President of Ukraine.
"From the very first seconds of Russia’s invasion, Ukraine has sought peace, and we support all substantive proposals capable of bringing genuine peace closer. Since the beginning of this year, Ukraine has supported President Trump’s proposals aimed at ending the bloodshed," the statement reads.
Zelenskyy's office emphasized that Ukraine is ready for constructive cooperation with the US and partners in the EU and worldwide to achieve peace.
"In the coming days, the President of Ukraine expects to discuss with President Trump the existing diplomatic opportunities and the key points required to achieve peace," the Presidential Office says.
What is known about the US peace plan
Western media, citing their own sources, reported that US and Russian officials developed a plan to end the war in Ukraine. According to unofficial information, Kirill Dmitriev, an envoy of the Russian President, was involved in its creation.
The plan supposedly consists of 28 points and effectively calls for Ukraine's capitulation. In particular, it demands that Ukraine give up Donbas, half of its army, and more.
Reuters reported that the US peace plan was to be presented in Kyiv by a US delegation led by US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll.
Amid rumors about the US plan, the Ukrainian leader emphasized that Ukraine is ready to work in any meaningful format to end the war with Russia.
On November 20, Bloomberg reported two more key demands of the US peace plan. These include lifting international sanctions and halting processes that document Russian crimes against Ukraine’s civilian population and infrastructure.
