The United States could force Russia to end its war against Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. US President Donald Trump allegedly considered signing a peace deal at the G20 summit.

US could end the war

Zelenskyy said Ukraine is counting on US mediation to end Russia's war against Ukraine. However, the first step is to stop the active phase of the war, after which Ukraine and Russia can discuss security guarantees and other peace terms.

The head of state said Ukraine is ready to join a meeting in Florida. To do so, it would need an invitation from Trump and an appropriate format at the G20 summit.

"We haven't received such a signal yet. We're counting on it," the Ukrainian president added.

Trump about peace deal

US President Donald Trump wants to sign a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia at the G20 summit, scheduled for Florida in December, The Atlantic reported, citing advisers to the US president.

Trump allegedly hopes to personally stand between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian leader Vladimir Putin as the document is signed.

To achieve this goal, Washington is considering putting intense pressure on Ukraine.

RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Russia had allegedly expressed willingness to resume negotiations with Ukraine and the United States.

In addition, US special envoy Steve Witkoff said during a meeting with Putin that conditions for a ceasefire in Ukraine were in place and brought relevant documents to Moscow.
