At a meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin, US envoy Steve Witkoff said there were opportunities to achieve a ceasefire, according to Russian media.

He brought documents to St. Petersburg outlining the terms for a ceasefire in Ukraine.

“We have brought some documents outlining certain approaches to a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. I would ask you to consider these documents. I would also like to bring Kushner into the conversation by phone call later,” he added.

According to him, there are prerequisites for a ceasefire in Ukraine. Witkoff is also expected to brief the head of the Kremlin on the results of the meeting in Oslo.

“I hope you will consider the possibility of resuming trilateral talks involving the US, Ukraine, and Russia. These could involve representatives of technical teams. Even if no decision on this issue is made today, it would be good to discuss it,” he told Putin.

Steve Witkoff arrived in St. Petersburg on October 21.

According to Russian media, his plane landed at Pulkovo airport in the morning, where he was met by Putin's representative, Kirill Dmitriev. The US side has not yet commented on the visit.

Witkoff and Dmitriev arrived at the Konstantinovsky Palace for talks. Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov said the main topic would be the war against Ukraine. Jared Kushner did not travel to Russia due to illness but is likely to join the conversation online.

Yesterday, Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Trump's negotiators in Oslo.

Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who took part in talks, said that the sides had identified elements of a peace settlement, which would be presented in St. Petersburg.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov previously said that Moscow hoped to meet with Witkoff in the near future, and that he would be able to brief Putin on the discussions with Ukrainians and Europeans.
