Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in Kyiv today with former Trump special envoy Keith Kellogg. The two discussed the intensification of Russian strikes and ways to defend against them.
"I met with General Keith Kellogg, who came from Odesa to Kyiv to participate in our Veterans Forum. Thank you for showing this respect to Ukrainian soldiers, who every day, under extremely difficult conditions, defend Ukraine and the entire Euro-Atlantic space," Zelenskyy said.
He noted that he and Kellogg discussed the intensification of Russian strikes on infrastructure and civilians, emphasizing that the top priority is ballistic missile defense.
In particular, the president spoke about Ukraine and Europe working to develop their own ballistic missile defense system, but noted that interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems will be indispensable this winter, so Ukraine is ready to purchase them.
"I briefed the general on our work with the Europeans to create a ballistic missile defense system, but interceptor supplies for Patriot systems are indispensable for getting through this winter. Ukraine is ready to purchase them, and any efforts in this direction are important," the head of state said.

As previously reported, former US special envoy Keith Kellogg arrived in Ukraine on August 21 on a visit ahead of Independence Day. In particular, he visited the Odesa Commercial Seaport yesterday.
Notably, when Kellogg is in Ukraine, Russians do not usually launch massive attacks or strike the city where he stays.
Amid this, President Zelenskyy once jokingly said he was ready to grant Kellogg Ukrainian citizenship and give him an apartment.
