Zelenskyy meets with Danish MoD: EU accession and Ukraine's reconstruction discussed
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Minister of Defense of Denmark Troels Lund Poulsen, according to Zelenskyy's announcement.
He notes that Ukraine highly values Denmark's support, which it has been providing to Ukraine since the early days of the full-scale war.
The President emphasizes that Ukraine's priority is military support. Therefore, he is particularly grateful for the 12 aid packages that strengthen our soldiers on the battlefield.
Zelenskyy also expresses his gratitude for the opening of the first reconstruction office in Mykolaiv, which will facilitate close dialogue with regional and local authorities. He hopes that such offices will be established in other regions as well.
The President separately thanks Denmark for supporting Ukraine on its path to the EU. He notes that Ukraine would be very pleased to begin accession negotiations this year.
In turn, Lund Poulsen states that Denmark will do everything to assist Ukraine. He emphasizes that the entire Danish parliament is committed to providing long-term support, which includes financial assistance, support in reconstruction, and assistance to society, among other things.
The Minister of Defense also expresses hope that some Danish defense companies could come to Ukraine and establish production with local companies in sectors needed by our country.
Support for Ukraine from Denmark
It should be noted that Denmark has been helping Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion.
Recently, Denmark and Czechia announced that in the coming months, they would supply Ukraine with infantry fighting vehicles, combat tanks, heavy weaponry, and other equipment at Denmark's expense.
Moreover, Denmark decided to allocate over $14 million for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine.
