Russia's losses in Ukraine as of August 20: +920 troops, 260 drones and 55 artillery systems

In the past 24 hours, from August 19 to 20, Russian forces lost an additional 920 soldiers on the front lines. The Armed Forces of Ukraine also destroyed a tank, four armored vehicles, numerous artillery systems, drones, and other military equipment of the Russian army, according to the Ukrainian General Staff.
The total combat losses of the Russian forces from February 24, 2022, to August 20, 2025, are approximately as follows:
- personnel - about 1,072,700 (+920) Russian troops were eliminated;
- tanks - 11,119 (+1);
- troop-carrying AFVs - 23,152 (+4);
- artillery systems - 31,748 (+50);
- MLRS - 1,470;
- anti-aircraft systems - 1,208;
- aircraft - 422;
- helicopters - 340;
- UAV operational-tactical level - 52,154 (+260);
- cruise missiles - 3,565 (+7);
- warships/boats - 28;
- submarines - 1;
- vehicles and fuel tanks - 59,202 (+142);
- special equipment - 3,943 (+1).
As reported by RBC-Ukraine, on August 19 alone, there were 121 combat engagements along the front, with the highest number occurring in the Pokrovsk direction, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine repelled 40 enemy attacks.
According to the General Staff, the Russian army carried out three missile strikes using eight missiles, 52 airstrikes dropping 73 guided bombs, deployed 1,909 kamikaze drones, and conducted 3,740 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas.
