Zelenskyy meets Patriarch Bartholomew to talk religious freedom

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to discuss paths toward real peace and the further development of the church in Ukraine, according to the president’s Telegram channel.
During the meeting, Zelenskyy informed the Patriarch about the protection of religious freedom in Ukraine, shared details of cooperation with the US team, and invited His Holiness to visit Ukraine.
“I thank the Ecumenical Patriarch for his support, solidarity, advocacy for Ukraine’s interests, constant prayers for all Ukrainians, and condemnation of the actions of the Russian Orthodox Church, which blessed the killings of Ukrainians,” Zelenskyy stated.
Zelenskyy’s visit to the US
On Monday, September 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in the US for an official visit.
During his stay in the US capital, the head of state is scheduled to hold dozens of meetings with leaders and officials, attend the UN General Assembly summit, the Leaders’ Summit of the Coalition for the Return of Children, and the annual Crimea Platform Summit.
So far, Zelenskyy has met with US Special Representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg. During the meeting, the president briefed the general on the situation on the frontlines of the Russia-Ukraine war.
The president also met with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, where they discussed the use of frozen Russian assets.
In addition, Zelenskyy held talks with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, discussing cooperation between the two countries and efforts to end the war.
On Tuesday, September 23, Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump.
