Volodymyr Zelenskyy talks with IMF head on tapping frozen Russian funds

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in New York with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. They discussed the use of frozen Russian assets and cooperation, according to the president’s Telegram post.
"We discussed opportunities to use frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine and all possible avenues of cooperation, including a new program aimed at supporting our country’s resilience in the coming years," the president said.
Zelenskyy also informed that the parties agreed on further cooperation between the Ukrainian government and the IMF.
In addition, attention was paid to yet another violation of NATO member states’ airspace by Russia. In particular, the head of state mentioned the incident in Denmark’s capital, Copenhagen, where drones were detected on the evening of September 22 and the airport was closed.
"We exchanged views on the reasons. If there is no decisive response from allies - both states and institutions - to these aggressive provocations, Russia will continue them," the president said.
Zelenskyy also expressed gratitude to Georgieva and the IMF for their attention and the programs that help strengthen Ukraine’s economy.
Zelenskyy's visit to New York
On the night of August 23, the Ukrainian delegation, headed by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, arrived in New York to take part in the UN General Assembly session, the Summit on the Return of Ukrainian Children, and the Crimea Platform Summit.
In addition, the head of state informed that during this visit, he has nearly two dozen meetings scheduled.
In particular, he reported that he had already met with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. They discussed efforts to end the war in Ukraine, as well as cooperation between the two countries.
Today, Tuesday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is to meet with US leader Donald Trump. On the eve of the meeting, the head of state announced that he intends to discuss with him security guarantees for Ukraine.
