Zelenskyy holds meeting of Staff on next year’s weapons plans and partner support
On October 8, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held another meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief to discuss equipping the military with weapons, according to Zelenskyy's Telegram channel.
During the meeting, he heard a report from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, which addressed the army's needs for the rest of the year and in the future.
"Reports from all participants regarding how to meet these needs were presented: what we will acquire, what we will receive from allies, and what we will produce independently," Zelenskyy wrote.
Participants in the meeting included Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Vice Prime Minister for Innovation Mykhailo Fedorov, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin, and others.
"We outlined priorities for our defense industry for the next year, including missiles, drones, munitions, and active engagement of investments from partners," Zelenskyy emphasized.
Ramstein format
The Ramstein format refers to a series of international meetings among defense ministers aimed at coordinating military assistance to Ukraine in its confrontation with Russian aggression. Named after the airbase in Germany where participants first gathered in April 2022, it includes dozens of countries, including NATO members and neutral states.
Some countries provide military aid, while others offer humanitarian support or express political solidarity.
In early September, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attended the Ramstein meeting in person for the first time. The next Ramstein meeting is scheduled to take place in Germany in October, where US President Joe Biden will be present.
