Zelenskyy discusses purchase of US weapons for Ukraine with NATO Secretary General

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a conversation with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. They discussed the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine, funded by allied countries, according to Zelenskyy.
"In two days, we have over one billion dollars from our European NATO partners for the purchase of American weapons. This is evidence that NSATU is working, and the decisions of the NATO Summit in The Hague are being implemented. I thanked Mark for this," Ukrainian President said.
Rutte, in turn, spoke about efforts with other countries that are also ready to join the initiative.
Zelenskyy also informed the NATO Secretary General about the situation in Kharkiv and other Ukrainian cities, facing more frequent Russian attacks, as well as the situation on the front line and the needs of Ukrainian troops.
"We also discussed diplomatic efforts with partners to expand cooperation and support for Ukraine. There are good proposals, and we will be implementing them," Zelenskyy added.
New US and NATO initiative
In July, US President Donald Trump announced that he had reached an agreement with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on supplying American weapons to Ukraine.
Trump assured that all the weapons Ukraine receives would be paid for by European countries.
In particular, it was reported yesterday that Ukraine will receive $500 million worth of American weapons, with the supply funded by the Netherlands.
In addition, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway will jointly finance the purchase of US defense equipment for Ukraine, totaling $500 million.
