Ukraine to receive US weapons funded by Netherlands

Ukraine will receive American weapons worth 500 million euros. The deliveries will be financed by the Netherlands, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said in an interview with De Telegraaf.
According to him, the Netherlands is allocating 500 million euros for a new initiative under which Ukraine will receive American weapons funded by European countries.
"American air defense systems and ammunition are especially important so that Ukraine can defend itself," he noted.
He stated that in doing so, the Netherlands has become the first country to allocate money for such an initiative. The Dutch government wants to set an example.
According to the minister, the Dutch support package includes missiles and parts for Patriot and HAWK air defense systems. Ukrainian defenders will also receive artillery shells, although the exact contents of the package are still being finalized.
"Daily Russian strikes are pure terror aimed at breaking Ukraine. The Netherlands does not want to allow this and is therefore participating in the support. Only by continuing to resolutely support Ukraine can we increase pressure on Russia and resist its aggression. This is extremely important, because the more Russia advances in Ukraine, the greater a threat it becomes to the rest of Europe," Brekelmans added.
New US and NATO initiative
On July 14, US President Donald Trump stated that he had reached an agreement with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte regarding the supply of American weapons to Ukraine.
Trump assured that all the weapons Ukraine would receive would be paid for by European countries.
The American leader promised that under this initiative, Ukraine would receive "the best weapons."
