The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has already begun an audit of state-owned companies, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening address.

The head of state said he had heard a report from Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, who announced the start of the review of state companies.

"The government has already begun auditing all state-owned companies, and the results of the review will be handed over to law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies, and the government must provide them with full support. This is exactly what I expect," the President stated.

Comprehensive review of state companies

The Cabinet of Ministers has ordered a comprehensive review of the largest state-owned companies, particularly in the energy and defense sectors. According to Svyrydenko, special attention will be paid to procurement transparency and financial control.

The Prime Minister noted that the supervisory boards of Naftogaz, Ukroboronprom, Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukrhydroenergo, and state-owned banks must analyze the activities of their executive bodies.

Additionally, the State Audit Service will carry out financial control over large state enterprises, focusing on the effective use of the state budget and the accuracy of financial reporting.

President Zelenskyy said that final decisions will be made after the audit of state companies and the evaluation of the results of their activities.

The need for a large-scale review of state-owned companies arose after the exposure of a corruption scheme at Energoatom, organized by officials and businessmen. Investigations revealed that members of the criminal group systematically received bribes from the company’s contractors.

On Thursday, November 13, Svyrydenko said the Cabinet is preparing a comprehensive solution for all state-owned companies to prevent the existence of similar schemes.

RBC-Ukraine previously reported that on Wednesday, November 12, Energoatom Vice President Jakob Hartmut was suspended from his position.
