Energoatom Vice President Jakob Hartmut has been removed from his position following a decision by the Cabinet of Ministers, according to Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

"Based on the materials provided by NABU, the government decided to immediately suspend the Vice President (of Energoatom - ed.), board member Jakob Hartmut, from his post," she stated.

Svyrydenko added that the Cabinet also instructed the acting chairman of the board to suspend the chief adviser to the President of Energoatom, Dmytro Basov, who has been served with the notice of charges.

The government further demanded the suspension of other employees whose possible involvement in criminal activities is still under investigation, including:

  • The director of finance and budgeting;

  • The director of legal support;

  • The head of the Centralized Procurement unit.

"If NABU's investigation reveals that other employees are involved in the crimes, the acting chairman must suspend them and assist in the investigation," Svyrydenko added.

Energoatom corruption scandal

Earlier, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) uncovered a kickback scheme within Energoatom involving company officials and businessman Tymur Mindich, a former business partner of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

On November 11, Prime Minister Svyrydenko announced that the government had dissolved Energoatom's supervisory board.

She noted that a new board composition will soon be approved, with its main task being to relaunch company leadership and conduct a full audit of Energoatom.
